Viking CCS Project : Technip Energies wins FEED contract for CCS project in Humber

Technip Energies has been awarded a crucial Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the Viking Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project. This initiative, led by Harbour Energy in partnership with bp, is set to revolutionize the UK’s approach to reducing carbon emissions. Situated in the Humber region, the UK’s most industrialized area and largest source of CO2 emissions, the Viking CCS project aims to significantly contribute to the UK government’s net-zero emissions target by 2050.

The Viking CCS project is a landmark initiative focused on capturing and storing CO2 emissions from the Humber region into the depleted Viking gas fields. With a target to reduce UK emissions by 10 million tonnes annually by 2030 and 15 million tonnes by 2035, the project is a cornerstone in the UK’s strategy to combat climate change and foster a sustainable energy future.

Technip Energies, alongside its subsidiary Genesis, will deliver FEED services for the CO2 transportation system. This includes the CO2 handling station, onshore and offshore pipeline, and a Not Permanently Attended Installation (NPAI) platform. This collaboration highlights the company’s dedication to supporting the UK’s transition to a more sustainable future, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
