Vestas has secured a significant order for the OranjeWind offshore wind farm, previously known as Hollandse Kust West VII, located in the North Sea off the coast of the Netherlands. The order entails the provision of 53 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines, marking a major step forward in the development of this ambitious renewable energy project.

Major Deal in Offshore Wind Energy

Vestas, a global leader in wind turbine manufacturing, has been entrusted with supplying, delivering, and commissioning the state-of-the-art V236-15.0 MW wind turbines for the OranjeWind offshore wind farm. In addition to these responsibilities, Vestas will also handle the servicing of the turbines under a comprehensive 5-year service agreement, followed by a long-term operational support agreement. This deal underscores Vestas’ pivotal role in advancing wind energy technology and sustainability.

A Strategic Partnership for Renewable Energy

The OranjeWind project is a joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies, each holding a 50% stake in the development. Announced last week, this partnership aims to deliver an offshore wind farm with an impressive installed capacity of 795 MW. The grid connection capacity for the project is set at 760 MW, with an additional 35 MW reserved to optimise the use of connection capacity even during periods of lower production.

Located approximately 53 km off the Dutch coast in the North Sea, the OranjeWind site is strategically positioned to harness strong and consistent wind resources.
