VA TECH WABAG bags $11.4m order for effluent treatment plant in Malaysia

VA TECH WABAG (WABAG), an Indian water treatment company, has bagged a $11.45 million contract for installing a new effluent treatment plant for PETRONAS’ $27 billion Pengerang Integrated Complex in Malaysia.

The contract was awarded by Malaysian construction engineering company Dialog E&C Sdn. Bhd.

The Pengerang Integrated Complex located in Johor is being constructed by PRPC Utilities and Facilities Sdn Bhd (PRPCUF), a subsidiary of PETRONAS Refinery & Petrochemical Corporation (PRPC).

WABAG in the role of a technology vendor, will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, and supervision works pertaining to the proposed effluent treatment plant.

The effluent treatment plant will be made up of two-stage biological treatment, advance oxidation process, ammonia stripper, and drier facility for the treatment of sludge.

In the past, WABAG had executed a $200 million integrated effluent treatment plant for the Pengerang Integrated Complex, which helps in reducing contaminants below regulatory discharge requirements.
