Unilever to acquire US food supplement company Onnit

British consumer goods company Unilever has agreed to acquire Texas-based food supplement company Onnit for an undisclosed price.

Founded in 2010 by Aubrey Marcus, Onnit owns a brain supplement called Alpha BRAIN, which is said to be useful for better memory, focus, and also mental processing.

The Onnit brand also provides functional nutrition, fitness essentials along with a digital content platform that gives informative and motivational articles, advice, interviews, and fitness programs for its consumer base.

Peter ter Kulve – President of Home Care and Health & Wellbeing at Unilever said: “Onnit is a leading brand in the fast-growing nootropics segment. With its holistic health offering and digital-first model, Onnit perfectly complements our growing portfolio of innovative wellness and supplement brands that include OLLY, Equilibra, Liquid I.V., and SmartyPants Vitamins.”

According to Unilever, Onnit will continue to be headquartered in Austin and will be led by CEO Jason Havey. Aubrey Marcus will continue to be its brand ambassador.
