Udaipur Cement Works doubles cement grinding capacity in Rajasthan

In a significant development in the , Udaipur Cement Works Limited () has achieved a major milestone in its ongoing expansion project. The company has announced the commissioning of an additional 2.50 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) at its existing location in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This expansion has effectively more than doubled UCWL’s total cement grinding capacity to 4.70 MTPA from a previous capacity of 2.20 MTPA, marking a monumental achievement in the company’s growth trajectory.

The expansion project comes under the dynamic leadership of Smt. Vinita Singhania, the Chairperson of Udaipur Cement Works, who has been instrumental in steering the company towards remarkable growth in the past few years. Expressing her excitement about the project, Smt. Singhania stated, “This expansion marks a monumental achievement for UCWL. Our total Cement Grinding capacity has more than doubled to 4.70 Million Tonnes Per Annum from 2.20 Million Tonnes Per Annum.”

Prior to this, in October 2023, UCWL commissioned an additional Clinker Line of 1.50 MTPA, which resulted in the doubling of the company’s clinker capacity to 3.00 MTPA from 1.50 MTPA. This strategic expansion not only enhances UCWL’s production capabilities but also aligns with its commitment to sustainable growth.

UCWL has established itself as a pioneer in promoting various green initiatives within the cement industry. In a landmark move, the company installed a 1 MWp Floating Plant at its mines last year, marking a first in the state of Rajasthan and a unique initiative in the entire Indian Cement Industry. Additionally, Udaipur Cement Works doubled its Waste Heat Recovery Power Capacity from 6 MW to 12 MW during the previous quarter, achieving a green energy share of more than 50% in its total electrical energy consumption. These initiatives highlight UCWL’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable energy use in cement production.
