TVS Motor, Tata Power join forces to develop EV charging infrastructure

TVS Motor and Tata Power have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the two Indian firms will work together for implementing electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EVCI) across India.

The partnership also calls for deploying solar power technologies at TVS Motor locations.

Overall, the partnership’s objective is for creating a large dedicated electric two-wheeler charging infrastructure to expedite electric mobility in India.

TVS Motor said that the partnership will also give the customers of its TVS iQube Electric smart electric scooter access to the charging network by Tata Power via the TVS Motor customer connect app and Tata Power EZ Charge app in India.

Tata Power has a network of more than 5,000 home chargers and 700 plus public chargers in over 120 Indian cities.

TVS Motor and Tata Power will look to create a regular AC charging network and a DC fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers.

According to TVS Motor, the MoU aligns with its commitment to grow the footprint of TVS iQube Electric in 25+ cities in the coming months. Currently, the electric scooter is available in Delhi, Kochi, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad, Vizag, and Jaipur.
