Turkish Airlines to expand fleet with monumental order of 220 Airbus aircraft
Türkiye’s national carrier, Turkish Airlines, has made a significant move in the aviation industry by ordering 220 Airbus aircraft, comprising 150 Airbus A321s and 70 A350 widebody aircraft (50 A350-900s, 15 A350-1000s, and 5 A350F freighters). This order follows two previous orders for A350-900s in 2023 and takes Turkish Airlines’ total Airbus order book to 504 aircraft, of which 212 have already been delivered.
A Testament to Operational Excellence and Sustainability
Turkish Airlines Chairman Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat emphasized the order’s significance, highlighting it as a testament to the airline’s dedication to innovation, operational excellence, and a sustainable future. The new Airbus aircraft will enhance the airline’s operational capabilities and significantly contribute to its environmental goals, marking a crucial milestone in Türkiye’s aviation industry.
Airbus Commends Turkish Airlines’ Visionary Decision
Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, praised Turkish Airlines’ decision. The A350 and A321 models will be flagship aircraft for the airline, driving efficiency with more range, less fuel, noise, and emissions, and offering the best cabin in class. The order highlights the cross-model value of the A350 family and reinforces the partnership with Turkish Airlines and Türkiye’s aviation sector.
Advanced Features of the Airbus A321neo and A350
The Airbus A321neo, the largest in the A320neo Family, offers unparalleled range and performance. With new-generation engines and Sharklets, it brings significant noise reduction and more than 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft. The A350 is the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft, delivering a 25% advantage in fuel burn, operating costs, CO₂ emissions, and 50% noise reduction.
Turkish Airlines’ Commitment to Sustainable Aviation
Turkish Airlines’ latest order underscores its commitment to environmentally friendly and efficient aviation. The A350F freighter, included in the order, offers optimized cargo operations and significantly lower fuel burn and CO₂ emissions. With this endorsement, Turkish Airlines strengthens its role as a global aviation leader and a proactive contributor to sustainable aviation practices.
