Tragic collision on UP Highway: Car hits truck, 8 burnt to death
In a shocking and tragic incident, a severe collision on a highway in Uttar Pradesh has resulted in a devastating loss of life. Late last night, a car collided with a truck and caught fire, leading to the deaths of eight passengers, including a child. The accident occurred in Bareilly, and the police have reported that the vehicle, due to its central locking system, became an inescapable trap for its occupants.
Details of the Catastrophic Incident
According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Sushil Chandra Bhan Dhule, the car veered into the opposite lane and rammed into a truck on the Nainital highway. The impact was so severe that it caused the car to catch fire. Footage from the accident site reveals the burning car alongside the truck, a chilling testament to the violent collision.
Locked Doors Lead to Tragic Outcome
The doors of the car, presumably jammed after the accident, failed to open, trapping the passengers inside. “The car collided with a truck near Bhojipura and got dragged, which led to it catching fire. Being centrally locked, the people inside couldn’t escape, leading to this tragedy,” stated the police official. The passengers, on their way to a wedding, met an untimely and horrific end. Their bodies have since been sent for post-mortem.
This incident has raised serious concerns about road safety and the potential hazards of central locking systems in vehicles during accidents. The UP Highway has been the scene of many accidents in the past, but this particular incident stands out for its sheer horror and the unfortunate circumstances that led to the loss of so many lives.
The local authorities and emergency services responded to the scene, but the efforts were in vain, as all the passengers were already deceased. This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the unpredictable and often dangerous nature of road travel.
