Torrent Power debuts in EV infrastructure with charging stations

Torrent Power Ltd. (TPL), a prominent electric utility company, has made its entry into the electric mobility infrastructure sector with the establishment of four electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Ahmedabad. Plans for two additional stations in Surat are also underway, along with other cities in the pipeline.

The inaugurating ceremony held at Prahladnagar, Ahmedabad was conducted by M Thennarasan, Commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, in the presence of Robert Demann, Executive Vice President Siemens India and Smart Infrastructure Head for South Asia at Siemens Ltd.

This significant move aims to promote a more sustainable and greener future, reduce emissions and improve air quality by encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. A comprehensive EV charging network is being developed by the company to make it affordable, accessible and convenient for all, thereby easing range anxiety and facilitating the widespread use of electric vehicles, as stated by Varun Mehta, Director, Torrent Power.

The company has partnered with SIEMENS to develop the EV Charging network and has installed three 60KW DC Fast chargers and a 22 kW AC charger in Ahmedabad. The charging stations are located at strategic points across the city, and the location details can be found in the Torrent Power Customer Portal and on the statiQ App. To further facilitate the use of these facilities, Torrent Power is currently offering charging at Rs. 12 per unit, among the lowest in the city, and a 20% discount on the first charge for a limited period.
