TCS to help John Wiley & Sons modernize ecommerce platform

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been selected by American publishing company John Wiley & Sons (Wiley) for modernizing its ecommerce platform with SAP Commerce.

According to Tata Consultancy Services, the modernization will help the publishing company create a unified, seamless customer experience.

Founded in 1807, John Wiley & Sons has been engaged in publishing academic and instructional materials to cater to researchers, universities, learners, and corporations.

As per Tata Consultancy Services, the legacy ecommerce platforms of the American publishing company do not have scalability, flexibility, and were not providing a seamless customer experience. This has restricted John Wiley & Sons’ ability to embrace new business models and make acquisitions.

The publishing house has partnered with the Indian IT services provider for modernizing its ecommerce platform for the North America region. It plans to do the same for the UK, Europe, and Asia regions in the future.

Akhilesh Tiwari – Global Head, Enterprise Application Services, Tata Consultancy Services said: “To remain competitive in today’s rapidly changing digital landscape, companies are constantly looking for ways to provide their customers with the best online experiences with consistent and seamless interactions through innovative technologies.

“With this reimagined ecommerce platform, we believe that Wiley will take their commerce experience to the next level, drive business growth, and improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.”

Tata Consultancy Services said that it has made use of its huge contextual knowledge of the publishing company’s business and its domain expertise for designing and deploying the new platform using SAP Commerce.

Furthermore, the Indian IT giant laid the foundation for headless commerce with flexible architecture for facilitating quicker time-to-market and tailored customer experience across channels.

Tata Consultancy Services said that it has designed a new user interface for easing the shopping experience and allow hassle-free checkouts without any lags. The new ecommerce platform of John Wiley & Sons has features such as real-time fraud checks apart and address verification.

David Levine – Sr. Director, eCommerce, John Wiley & Sons said: “With an objective to deliver exceptional experiences for our customers and employees, we needed to remodel our ecommerce business. Being in the publishing business, it is also an important revenue stream for us. With TCS, we were able to achieve a scalable commerce platform and create new and innovative ways to enrich our customers’ buying experience.

“We are positive that this strategic partnership with TCS will help us reach our long-term business goals and enhance omni-channel experience for our customers.”
