Tata Power, Supreme Petrochem join forces for renewable energy plant in Maharashtra

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and Supreme Petrochem Limited have penned a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) focusing on a 12.5 MW group captive project. The project, routed through an SPV named TP Saturn Limited, will be stationed at Achegaon, Maharashtra.

Significance of the Maharashtra Renewable Plant

Once operational, this strategic renewable energy plant is predicted to churn out approximately 27.5 million units (MUs) of clean energy annually. The alignment with Supreme Petrochem, a predominant name in India’s polystyrene and expandable polystyrene market, emphasizes a shift towards sustainable production processes. They are presently venturing into an ABS plant with low-carbon footprint technology and showcase an unwavering commitment towards employing renewable energy for their production units.

Furthermore, this plant showcases potential environmental benefits. Notably, projections state a considerable carbon emission reduction by 20,075 metric tonnes annually. As per the agreed timelines, the plant is anticipated to be fully functional within eight months post the PDA’s formalization.

Highlighting the significance of this collaboration, Ashish Khanna, CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, remarked, “Our alliance with Supreme Petrochem Limited to install 12.5 MW captive solar project will help them meet their sustainable energy requirements… through our customised green energy solutions.”

Expressing Supreme Petrochem’s ecological commitment, N. Gopal, their Executive Director, mentioned, “By sourcing clean energy through this PDA with Tata Power Renewable, we are taking a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions and achieving our ESG goals of environmental protection to the greatest extent possible.”

TPREL’s Growing Renewable Energy Portfolio

With the induction of this innovative group captive power project, TPREL’s cumulative renewable energy capacity amplifies to a commendable 7,902 MW. This encompasses 3,711 MW of projects in assorted developmental phases, cementing TPREL’s unwavering dedication to broadening its clean energy horizons. As of now, the company boasts an operating capacity of 4,191 MW, which is split between 3,185 MW from solar sources and 1,006 MW from wind energy.
