Tata Power reveals plans to build 8GW solar projects in Rajasthan

Tata Power has announced plans to develop utility scale projects of up to 8GW, solar rooftop projects of 1GW, and 1,50,000 solar pumps in the coming five years in Rajasthan.

The Indian power company made the announcement during the Invest Rajasthan summit in Jaipur.

Tata Power said that along with its wholly-owned subsidiary Tata Power Solar will grow its footprint in Rajasthan to produce clean energy via solar power.

According to the Tata Group company, it has over 4,500 people in Rajasthan and its expansion projects will create employment for 6,000-8,000 in the next five years.

Currently, the Tata Group subsidiary has a portfolio of nearly 5GWp. So far, Tata Power is said to have commissioned 2.0GW in Rajasthan and nearly 2.87GW capacity of solar projects under construction and will be completed in the coming 12-24 months.

Tata Power said that it intends to have a 10GW renewable power portfolio in the next five years in Rajasthan.
