Tata Power begins operations at Noorsar hybrid power project in Rajasthan
Tata Power said that its subsidiary Tata Power Green Energy Limited (TPGEL) has started operations at a 225MW hybrid power project in Noorsar, Rajasthan.
The power produced from the Noorsar hybrid power plant will be delivered under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to Tata Power, Mumbai Distribution, to fulfill the latter’s renewable purchase obligation (RPO).
According to Tata Power, the hybrid power project was awarded to TPGEL and its solar part was executed by Tata Power Solar Systems Limited.
The Noorsar hybrid power project is equipped with 5,79,488 modules and 103 wind turbines of various ratings from Tata Power’s existing wind assets.
Dr. Praveer Sinha — Tata Power CEO and MD said: “We are excited to commission our first Hybrid project of 225MW in Rajasthan. The project will supply power to our Mumbai Discom and their customers and will substantially enhance its non-carbon commitment.
“It also reflects our commitment to make the use of non-carbon energy to meet the clean and green energy goals of the country.”
Following the commissioning of the Noorsar hybrid project, Tata Power has taken its total renewables capacity to 5.5GW with an installed capacity of 3.86GW and 1.66GW under different stages of implementation.
Last month, Tata Power announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary TP Saurya Limited will construct a 600MW hybrid power project in Karnataka.
