In October 2023, Tata Motors Limited showcased a remarkable performance in the automotive sector, registering total sales of 82,954 units. This figure indicates a solid increase compared to the 78,335 units sold in October 2022. Focusing on the individual categories, the total commercial vehicle (CV) sales reached 34,317 units, marking a 4% year-on-year growth. Additionally, the passenger vehicle (PV) sector saw a 7% increase, amounting to 48,637 units sold.
Diving Deeper into Tata Motors’ Domestic Sales Achievements
Analyzing the domestic market specifically, Tata Motors’ overall domestic sales in October 2023 were 80,825 vehicles, up by 6% from 76,537 units in October 2022. The heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks experienced a 10% increase in sales, reaching 10,204 units. Light and medium commercial vehicles (ILMCV) trucks also showed significant growth, with sales rising by 14% to 5,351 units. Meanwhile, passenger carriers surged by 43% with 2,514 units sold, although small commercial vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickup saw a decrease of 8%. The total CV sales in the domestic market grew by 4% to 32,488 units, while the international business (CV IB) jumped by 15%, reaching 1,829 units.
The Passenger Vehicle Sector and Electric Vehicle (EV) Performance
In the realm of passenger vehicles, including electric vehicles (EV), Tata Motors’ domestic market achieved a growth of 7%, selling 48,337 units compared to 45,217 in the previous year. International business for passenger vehicles also grew impressively by 46%, totaling 300 units. Significantly, the sales of EVs (both IB and Domestic) escalated by 28%, underlining Tata Motors’ advancing footprint in the electric vehicle segment.
