Tata Motors expands CNG line up with upgraded Tiago, Tigor iCNG, and new Punch iCNG
Tata Motors, India‘s premier automobile manufacturer, has revamped its CNG line by not only refreshing the existing Tiago and Tigor iCNG models but also launching the brand new Punch iCNG, all utilizing revolutionary twin-cylinder technology. This technology, which made its debut with the Altroz iCNG in May, has been celebrated for disrupting the segment, offering non-compromised boot space, best-in-class features, and superior driving experience.

Vinay Pant, Head-Marketing, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said: “Building further on our success with the Altroz iCNG, and to make the CNG segment even more hotly contested, we are excited to introduce the twin cylinder technology in not just one but three products today – the Tiago, Tigor, and the much awaited and loved sub compact SUV, the Tata Punch.”

The Punch iCNG is notable for its safety, being built on the ALFA Architecture platform, proven by receiving a 5-Star Global NCAP adult safety rating. Enhanced safety measures include thermal incident protection and a protective placement for the CNG tanks. The vehicle also offers advanced features like Voice Assisted Electric Sunroof, Front Seat Armrest, USB C Type charger, 7″ infotainment system, and more.
Performance and Intelligence of Punch iCNG
Boasting the powerful 1.2L Revotron Engine, the Punch iCNG delivers 73.4 PS power and 103 Nm torque. Smart placements of twin cylinders ensure similar boot space to ICE SUVs, with advanced Single ECU features ensuring effortless shifting between petrol and CNG modes.
About Tiago and Tigor iCNG Refreshes
The Tiago and Tigor iCNG, also recently refreshed, come equipped with Tata Motors’ twin-cylinder technology and have combined sales of over 50,000 units since January 2022. The Tigor offers the industry’s highest CNG tank capacity of 70L (water capacity).
Tata Motors’ Success in the CNG Segment
Tata Motors’ venture into the CNG segment has seen success across its offerings, growing its market share and strengthening its multi-powertrain strategy. Currently, Tata Motors iCNG vehicles command a market share of more than 16% in the CNG industry, with significant contributions to overall sales in individual brands like Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz.
