Tata Consumer Products to offload Tata Cha business to IHCL

Tata Consumer Products said that it will offload its Tata Cha business to Qmin-Shops, a lifestyle gourmet store chain operated by a subsidiary of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL).

Tata Cha is a tea café format quick service restaurant (QSR) chain.

According to Tata Consumer Products, the sale of Tata Cha is part of its continuous evaluation of its businesses as per its strategy and business goals. The sale of the tea café business will allow Tata Consumer Products to better focus on its more important FMCG business.

Presently, Tata Cha has a dozen stores in Bengaluru that serve beverages such as tea, coffee, and coolers along with snacks and merchandise.

The Tata Cha business is said to be a good strategic fit for Indian Hotels Company, which can be synergized with their Qmin brand.

Sunil D’Souza — MD and CEO of Tata Consumer Products said: “This is in line with our strategy of streamlining and simplifying our operations. Though it is a relatively small venture in its current form, exiting Tata Cha will enable us to sharpen focus on our core FMCG business.”
