Taicang Alps Resort Phase II: Elevating China’s ice and snow tourism to new heights
The signing ceremony for the Taicang Alps Resort Phase II project, a monumental event in the development of China’s winter sports and tourism sectors, was recently held at the Club Med Urban Oasis Taicang Resort. The project, which marks a significant expansion of the already successful resort, involves a total investment exceeding 5 billion yuan. It is a joint endeavor between the Taicang Municipal Government and Fosun Tourism Group, underscoring a strong public-private partnership aimed at boosting the regional economy through tourism.
The event was attended by key figures including Wang Xiangyuan, Secretary of the Taicang Municipal Committee; Xu Huadong, Vice Secretary of the Taicang Municipal Committee and mayor; and Guo Guangchang, Chairman of Fosun International. Their presence highlighted the substantial commitment from both the government and the private sector to advance this ambitious project.
The Taicang Alps Resort Phase II aims to set world records in the ski resort category, featuring the longest indoor ski slope and the most comprehensive entertainment facilities. The project’s design is inspired by the “Xiangyun Ruyi” (Auspicious Clouds), mirroring the “Snow Ruyi” of the Beijing Winter Olympics’ Zhangjiakou outdoor ski resorts. This alignment not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also sets a new trend in China’s ski industry.
Xu Huadong, Vice Secretary of the Taicang Municipal Committee and mayor, expressed the city’s aspirations to become a leading destination in the ice and snow tourism market of the Yangtze River Delta. The Phase II project is expected to create significant economic benefits, including increased tourism, job creation, and a boost in local and regional economic activities.
The resort will include state-of-the-art facilities such as snow-view hotels, a water park, hot springs, and an aquarium. These features are designed to provide visitors with a rich and diverse one-stop ski experience, catering to all ages and interests.
