Rincon lithium project: US$2.5bn cost, 60,000tpa capacity, DLE technology and 2028 production timeline
Rio Tinto’s Rincon lithium project in Argentina is advancing through full-scale construction after securing environmental approval and US$1.175 billion of external financing. The Salta development combines a 3,000-tonne starter plant with a 57,000-tonne expansion and is targeting first production from the commercial-scale plant in 2028.

The six-year 4% convertible is priced at a 96% conversion premium and, together with existing liquidity, gives Lithium Argentina a pathway to repay US$259 million of debt due in January 2027.
