In a significant boost to India’s renewable energy sector, Suzlon Group, the nation’s largest renewable energy solutions provider, has announced a new order win for developing an 81.9 MW wind energy project. The project, secured from Oyster Green Hybrid One Private Limited, involves the installation of 26 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower, each boasting a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The development will take place in Agar, Madhya Pradesh, and is set to significantly contribute to the local and national green energy supply.
Suzlon’s Continued Expansion: A New Chapter in Renewable Energy
This new venture marks the first collaboration between Suzlon Group and Oyster Green Hybrid One Private Limited, a respected Indian Independent Power Producer (IPP). As part of the agreement, Suzlon will handle the supply of wind turbines and oversee the project’s execution, including erection, commissioning, and comprehensive post-commissioning operations and maintenance services.
Vivek Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer of the India Business at Suzlon Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “We are happy to announce our first order with Oyster Green Hybrid One Private Limited. We welcome Oyster to the Suzlon experience and thank them for trusting in our leading technology and comprehensive capabilities throughout the wind energy value chain,” said Srivastava. He also highlighted the strategic significance of this project in penetrating the C&I customer segment and advancing India’s renewable energy capabilities.
Technological and Strategic Impact of the New Wind Turbines
The turbines being installed are from Suzlon’s higher-rated 3.15 MW, S144-140m series, known for their efficiency and reliability. These turbines are part of Suzlon’s R&D efforts to enhance performance and harness energy even from low wind sites, ultimately aiming to lower the cost of energy and make green power more accessible.
Ateesh Samant, Chief Operating Officer at Oyster Green Hybrid One Private Limited, commented on the deal’s strategic value. “We are focused on increasing our green power portfolio through Wind and Wind-Solar Hybrid projects. With Suzlon’s technological expertise and manufacturing capabilities, we are confident in growing our green energy portfolio and serving our customers with a shared ideology,” stated Samant.
Suzlon’s Role in Shaping India’s Energy Future
Suzlon’s integration of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology in their turbines allows for efficient grid integration, meeting stringent utility requirements. This technology, coupled with the company’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, underscores Suzlon’s role in promoting sustainable energy and domestic manufacturing on a global stage.
Future Prospects and Sustainability Goals
As India continues its transition towards sustainable energy solutions, projects like these are pivotal. They not only support the national agenda of increasing renewable energy capacity but also foster local economies and technology development. Suzlon’s new project in Madhya Pradesh is expected to set a benchmark in the industry, driving further investments and innovations in the renewable sector.
