Subsea7 has been awarded a sizable contract by Dana Petroleum (E&P) Limited for the Bittern field development. The contract, valued between $50 million and $150 million, is set to bolster operations in the Bittern oil and gas field, located about 190 km east of Aberdeen in the UK Central North Sea. This strategic development occurs in a water depth of 90 meters and is a significant boost for energy production in the region.

The contract encompasses a broad range of services including project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of a 22 km 12” water injection pipeline. This integral project also involves the installation of associated subsea structures and tie-ins at the Triton Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) vessel and the Bittern field itself.

Project management and engineering efforts will commence immediately in Aberdeen, with offshore activities planned for the third quarter of 2025. Subsea7’s involvement underscores their pivotal role in the offshore energy sector, providing expertise and technical knowledge essential for the successful expansion of the Bittern field.

Steve Wisely, Senior Vice President of UK and Global Inspection, Repair and Maintenance at Subsea7, remarked on the partnership: “We are pleased that Dana Petroleum has chosen Subsea7 to provide project management expertise and engineering technical knowledge for this important field development. We look forward to supporting Dana in meeting their project objectives and for the opportunity to play a key role in the safe and successful completion of Bittern.”

The Bittern field, operated by Dana Petroleum with significant stakes held by Serica Energy and Waldorf, lies in Blocks 29/1a and 29/1b. Discovered in 1996, the field has seen substantial development over the years including the establishment of production and water injection wells connected via subsea tie-back to the Triton FPSO. The field began producing in April 2000, and has undergone several well interventions and modifications, enhancing its output and operational efficiency.
