Subsea 7 to install submarine cable system for offshore wind farm in Taiwan

Subsea 7, a UK-based subsea engineering, construction, and services company, has bagged a contract for installing a submarine cable system on an undisclosed offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

The company did not disclose the exact contract value but indicated it is in the range of $50 million and $150 million.

Subsea 7 said that project engineering for the submarine cable system will immediately begin at the offices of its renewables and heavy lifting business unit Seaway 7 in Leer, Germany, and also in Taipei, Taiwan.

On the other hand, offshore activities are likely to begin in 2023.

The submarine cable system contract is subject to a final investment decision by the undisclosed client.

Subsea 7 said that it will record the contract pertaining to the offshore wind farm in Taiwan in backlog after the final investment decision has been made.

The subsea engineering company said that as of now it will not reveal any additional details due to contractual reasons.
