India-based Sterling and Wilson Solar Limited (SWSL), a Shapoorji Pallonji group company, said that it has commissioned the 66MW Al Husainiyah solar power plant in Jordan.
According to the solar EPC and O&M solutions provider, the Al Husainiyah solar power project in Ma’an Governorate was wrapped up after more than 850,000 manhours.
The Al Husainiyah solar power plant will offset nearly 50,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. This will help cut down the dependency on fossil fuels and tapping large scale solar opportunities for Jordan, said Sterling and Wilson Solar.
Amit Jain — Global CEO of Sterling and Wilson Solar Group said: “We are delighted to announce the commissioning of the Al Husainiyah project in Jordan amid such difficult times. Due to the outspread of COVID-19 and subsequent lockdowns in India and other countries, there were delays in manufacturing, FAT of material and construction work at the site.
“However, we arranged priority deliveries for material from OEMs, enabled remote monitoring, hired a local team, and provided necessary training to them, to deliver the project as per the agreed timelines.”
The Al Husainiyah solar power plant is the third project for Sterling and Wilson Solar in Jordan after a 2.6MW solar power plant and a 61MW solar power plant.
