Spirit AeroSystems to upgrade SFA’s Boeing 757 cargo freighters

Spirit AeroSystems, a US-based aircraft manufacturing company, said that it has signed an agreement with Chinese cargo airline SF Airlines (SFA) for modifying inlet cowlings for its Boeing 757 cargo freighters.

The agreement was signed by the company’s Belfast, Northern Ireland operations, known as Short Brothers.

Kailash Krishnaswamy — General Manager of Spirit AeroSystems (Hangzhou) Enterprise Management Consulting said: “Spirit AeroSystems is honored to be selected by SF Airlines for this 10-year agreement.

“Under this agreement, Spirit will provide important repairs for inlet cowlings that will help keep SFA’s Boeing 757 fleet operating effectively now and in the future.”

According to Spirit AeroSystems, technicians of SF Airlines will remove cowlings from the engines and ship them to the former’s site in Belfast, where the repairs will be carried out. After the repairs are done, the cowlings will be shipped back to the Chinese cargo airline.
