SolutionHealth, Acadia Healthcare to open behavioral health hospital in southeast New Hampshire

SolutionHealth’s Board of Trustees, the parent organization of Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health, has teamed up with Acadia Healthcare, a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services across the US.

The joint venture aims to invest $60 million to build a new behavioral health hospital in southeast New Hampshire, significantly increasing access to specialty behavioral healthcare in the region.

SolutionHealth is a highly coordinated regional health care network based in Southern New Hampshire, dedicated to improving and increasing access, quality, value, and community benefits for healthcare services. This significant joint venture will address the pressing need for specialized healthcare facilities that focus on caring for behavioral health needs, a concern affecting one in five US adults annually, with over one-third of the population in New Hampshire being affected by mental health issues.

Colin McHugh — Southern New Hampshire Health President and CEO said: “Our hospitals have been caring for the behavioral health needs of our community for many years. This new venture combines our efforts and our expertise into a new center of excellence that will offer patients, and staff alike, a modern and safe environment for all.”

The proposed hospital will feature 144 beds, offering a full range of inpatient behavioral health programs. The facility will be designed with care, ensuring a therapeutic and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and clinicians. This joint venture between SolutionHealth and Acadia Healthcare is set to more than double the inpatient capacity currently offered by Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health, significantly boosting their ability to support the healthcare needs of residents.

Moreover, this ambitious project will also receive support in the form of $15 million in state funding from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, helping to offset capital costs for the construction of the new hospital.
