Skanska, a Swedish construction company, has received an order from Statkraft Energi worth NOK 508 million ($55.44 million) for the modernization of the Gråsjø and Trollheim hydroelectric power plant dams in Norway.

Under the contract, Skanska will be responsible for the refurbishment and upgrade of four dams and a flood gate.

The dams are used as reservoirs for the Gråsjø and Trollheim hydropower plants in Surnadal and Rindal municipalities. In order to meet modern day standards, the dams need to be refurbished and upgraded.

The dams at Gråsjø function as reservoirs for the Gråsjø hydropower plant, while the dam at Follsjø supplies water for the Trollheim hydropower plant.

Skanska said that the construction work is expected to begin in the first quarter of next year and will be wrapped up by 1 September 2025.

Both the Gråsjø and Trollheim hydroelectric power plant dams are owned and operated by Statkraft Energi.
