Casino and entertainment company Rush Street Gaming has opened the Rivers Casino Portsmouth in Hampton Roads to the public, becoming the Commonwealth of Virginia’s first full-service permanent casino.
Opened on 23 January, Rivers Casino Portsmouth is located along Victory Boulevard, south of I-264, Portsmouth, Virginia, and includes 1,446 slot machines, 57 table games, 24 poker tables, and an array of onsite dining and entertainment choices.
The entertainment venue also houses many new restaurants such as Admiral’s Steak & Seafood, Mian, Crossings Café, Starbucks, Slice Pizzeria while Yard House will open later this year to offer a huge variety of draft beer.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth also includes BetRivers Sportsbook with club seating, a bar, betting windows, 27 self-service kiosks, and screens for viewing and Topgolf Swing Suite for bird’s-eye view of the gaming floor and a virtual entertainment experience, apart from The Sound Bar, a lounge area to host local bands and DJs, among others.
In addition, the venue consists of a 25,000 square-foot multipurpose event center.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth has received its official casino operator’s license from Gina Smith, deputy director of gaming compliance at Virginia Lottery, at the ceremony.
Rush Street Gaming and its affiliates have developed and run casinos in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, Des Plaines in Illinois, and Schenectady in New York.
