In an extraordinary feat that has left Bollywood aficionados astounded, ‘Animal’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has not just joined but stormed the prestigious ₹ 300-crore club in a record-breaking one week. This cinematic sensation, featuring the star-studded duo of Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, has continued its triumphant march, amassing a jaw-dropping ₹ 139.26 crore domestically in its second week. As of day 15, the film’s earnings soared to an impressive ₹ 484.34 crore, as per Sacnilk’s reports.
The film’s unrelenting success has propelled it to become a fan favourite, with several action-packed scenes being lauded. Among these, the intense climax fight between Bobby Deol’s Abrar Haque and Ranbir Kapoor’s Ranvijay Singh Balbir stands out. In a riveting revelation to The Quint, Bobby Deol disclosed that the original script included a controversial kiss between the estranged cousins, a creative decision later edited out by the director.
“There are these two brothers, they want to kill each other, but there’s a love that they have for each other,” Bobby Deol quoted the director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Deol revealed the director’s initial vision of the climactic scene, where amidst a fight and a background song about love, a sudden kiss was to occur. However, this bold move was eventually omitted from the final cut, with Deol teasing that it might appear in an uncut Netflix version.
‘Animal’ faced stiff competition at the box office with Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur’, both releasing on December 1. Despite this, ‘Animal’ has emerged as a dominant force in the box office race, proving its mettle in the competitive world of cinema. This blockbuster’s astounding success story is not just about box office numbers but also about the power of storytelling and cinematic innovation in Indian cinema.
