Precision Camshafts signs MoU with SMC to develop retrofitted EVs

Precision Camshafts Limited (PCL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Solapur Municipal Corporation (SMC) in Maharashtra to develop 100% retrofitted electric vehicles (EVs) for waste collection.

The Solapur Municipal Corporation (SMC) has a fleet of nearly 250 diesel engine operated light commercial vehicles (LCVs), called Ghanta Gaadi, for collecting waste throughout Solapur.

The corporation is planning to convert such intra city vehicles into 100% electric vehicles with an intention to work with Precision Camshafts Limited to execute the conversion.

In line with the MoU, Precision Camshafts Limited will provide three fully homologated electric light commercial vehicles for the Solapur Municipal Corporation on a “free of cost” returnable basis by the end of next year.
