POWERGRID acquires Sikar New Transmission and Fatehgarh Bhadla Transco projects

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has acquired the holding companies for two transmission projects in Rajasthan – Sikar New Transmission Limited (SNTL) and Fatehgarh Bhadla Transco Limited.

Sikar New Transmission Limited was acquired for about INR 18.54 crores.

It was created to take up a transmission system strengthening scheme for evacuating the 8.1GW power generated from solar energy zones in Rajasthan under phase II – Part C, on build, own, operate and maintain (BOOM) basis from REC Power Distribution Company Limited, the bid process coordinator.

The Sikar New Transmission project involves the setting up of a new 765/400kV substation at Sikar-II, a 765kV D/C transmission line, a 400kV D/C transmission line and associated substation extension works.

The electricity transmission system in Rajasthan is an inter state transmission system project, which is to be wrapped up in 18 months.

On the other hand, Fatehgarh Bhadla Transco Limited has been acquired by POWERGRID for INR 13.04 crores.

It is a special purpose vehicle created to execute the Fatehgarh Bhadla Transco project that will evacuate the power generated from 8.1GW solar energy zones in Rajasthan under phase II – Part B, on BOOM basis from REC Power Distribution Company.

The Fatehgarh Bhadla transmission system is made up of a 765kV D/C line and related bays extension works. The inter state transmission system project is to be wrapped up in 18 months.
