Polestar and Mobileye have announced a groundbreaking collaboration aimed at incorporating autonomous driving technology into the forthcoming Polestar 4 electric vehicle (EV). The autonomous capabilities will be built on Mobileye’s Chauffeur AV platform and integrated by ECARX, bringing a new layer of advanced, on-demand convenience to Polestar’s performance EVs.

Polestar 4 Sets Stage for Autonomous Capabilities

Launching in China and globally in 2024, the Polestar 4 electric vehicle will initially feature an advanced driver assistance system built on Mobileye’s SuperVision technology. This paves the way for the integration of Chauffeur, which promises hands-off, eyes-off autonomous driving on highways, as well as eyes-on automated driving in other specific operational domains.

Enhanced Driver Experience with Advanced Technologies

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, commented, “Innovation in our performance electric vehicles is a priority, and working with Mobileye allows us to make driving more enjoyable when autonomous features are enabled.” Both SuperVision and Chauffeur technologies utilize Mobileye’s EyeQ systems-on-chip, RSS-based driving policy, 360-degree camera systems, and REM-powered Mobileye Roadbook maps. Moreover, Chauffeur will upgrade SuperVision by incorporating the next-generation EyeQ6 system-on-chip, along with active radar and lidar sensors, offering a more comprehensive autonomous driving experience.
