ONGC and IOCL partner to establish LNG plant near Hatta Gas Field

ONGC and IndianOil Corporation Limited (IOCL) have reached a pivotal agreement by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a small-scale Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant near the Hatta Gas Field in the Vindhyan Basin, Madhya Pradesh. This significant initiative is set to transform the Vindhyan Basin from a Category II to a Category I status, marking a major leap in energy development in the region.

The new Hatta LNG plant will utilize state-of-the-art technology to produce LNG, a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. This move is aligned with India’s ongoing efforts to mitigate climate change and reduce carbon emissions, reinforcing the country’s commitment to sustainable energy practices.
