One New Zealand leverages Google Security Operations for advanced cybersecurity
One New Zealand (One NZ) has taken a significant step in cybersecurity by selecting Google Security Operations as its principal cybersecurity platform. This strategic move places One NZ alongside other leading global telecommunications firms that are modernizing their security operations to better address emerging threats.
Laura Ross, the Head of Cyber Security Strategy and Architecture at One NZ, highlighted the transformative potential of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with Google Security Operations. According to Ross, this integration not only enhances security measures but also optimizes security workflows, thereby increasing productivity and enabling the organization to anticipate and mitigate security risks more swiftly and effectively.
Google Security Operations offers a robust, high-performance SecOps solution that enhances productivity and empowers security teams to detect and respond to new threats efficiently. One NZ, in collaboration with its partner DEFEND, has developed a comprehensive approach to strengthen its cybersecurity resilience.
This collaboration has yielded substantial improvements, particularly in the efficiency of One NZ’s Security Operations Center (SOC). With Google’s platform, One NZ has managed to enhance its data ingestion capacity, reduce costs, and gain better visibility and insights across its network. The speed and responsiveness of Google Cloud have also been pivotal, allowing One NZ to accelerate its Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) program.
In line with its vision to become an ‘AI Telco’, One NZ is integrating Google Cloud Security‘s AI toolset into its existing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) workflows. This includes advanced tools like Code Assist and generative AI capabilities, which are part of Google Security Operations.
Louis Tague, ANZ General Manager at Google Cloud Security, remarked on the partnership, stating that working with One NZ to transition to Google Security Operations while enhancing its AI capabilities marks a groundbreaking development for both New Zealand and the broader region.
The partnership between One NZ and Google Security Operations is a forward-thinking move that could set a new standard for telecommunications security worldwide. Integrating AI into security operations not only improves efficiency but also significantly boosts the capability to handle complex security challenges.
By adopting Google Security Operations, One NZ is not only advancing its cybersecurity posture but is also positioning itself at the forefront of the technological evolution in the telecommunications industry, demonstrating a strong commitment to maintaining robust security standards and driving innovation.
