National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) said that it has commissioned the 15MW second phase of the 25MW Simhadri Floating Solar PV Project at Simhadri in Andhra Pradesh.
Last month, NTPC had commissioned 10MW capacity of the Simhadri floating solar plant.
The floating solar project has been developed on the reservoir of the 2GW Simhadri Thermal Power Plant, which has been operating since 2002.
Following the full commissioning of the Simhadri Floating Solar PV Project, NTPC Limited has grown its installed capacity to 53.4GW, while that of NTPC Group has gone up to 66.9GW.
In Andhra Pradesh’s neighboring state of Telangana, NTPC has been commissioning the 100MW Ramagundam floating solar power plant in a phased manner. Touted to become the largest floating solar power plant in India, the Ramagundam floating solar project involves an investment of INR 453 crores.
Last month, the Indian energy conglomerate announced that Unit 2 of the Darlipali Super Thermal Power Project in Odisha had successfully completed its trial operation.
