Novel Coronavirus : Novaerus portable air disinfection units to be used in Chinese healthcare facilities
Novaerus has partnered with seven distributors across China, in an effort to bring its portable air disinfection units in the country amid the ongoing Novel Coronavirus crisis.
The Irish medical-grade clean air solutions provider will provide its clean air technology to healthcare facilities across the Chinese regions of Hubei, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou City, and Zhejiang and also the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
Dr Kevin Devlin – CEO at WellAir, the parent company of Novaerus said: “The most difficult disease transmission route to guard against is airborne because we have very little to protect us when we breathe.
“Infection prevention specialists have pointed out that surgical masks are not designed to keep out viruses. Cleaning the air is a fundamental component of managing infectious outbreaks.”
According to Novaerus, many clean air solutions such as standalone filtration are not able to trap viral particles, due to their small size.
Novaerus portable air disinfection units are said to utilize a non-selective, rapid killing, plasma technology to kill airborne viruses round the clock.
The Irish clean air solutions provider said that its technology has also been tested independently to reduce MS2 Bacteriophage, a commonly used surrogate for SARS-CoV (Coronavirus) by almost 100%, as per the 2010 – Evaluation of filters for the sampling and quantification of RNA Phage Aerosols, Louis Gendron et al.
Dr Felipe Soberon – Chief Technology Officer at WellAir said: “Given the rapid and consistent kill rates achieved using Novaerus, it is reasonable to anticipate that our plasma technology will show similar impact and rapid kill rates across all viral particles.”
