Northwestern Medicine opens new hospital in Lake Forest, Illinois

Hospital industry news : US healthcare provider Northwestern Medicine has opened its new hospital in Lake Forest, a Level 2 trauma center, which has been built in Lake Forest, Illinois with an investment of $399 million.

Located at 1000 N. Westmoreland, the Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital has commenced full operations to serve the northern Illinois suburbs, after nearly four years of construction.

The new hospital in Lake Forest, IL has started admitting emergency department patients. It features 114 private inpatient rooms, 72 outpatient care spaces, eight operation rooms and 106 clinic examination rooms.

Commenting on the opening of the new hospital in Lake Forest, Thomas J. McAfee – President of Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, said: “We look forward to serving the community, and providing a leading healthcare facility for those in the northern Chicago suburbs.”

Northwestern Medicine says that its new hospital in Lake Forest has world-class physicians to look after patients while giving them access to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Further, it says that the new Lake Forest Hospital, which has replaced the originally built hospital in 1942, provides cutting-edge treatments and also innovative clinical trials.

According to the US healthcare provider, the new hospital in Lake Forest has come up with collaborative spaces for caregivers and staff, reduced ambient noise and better control over indoor lighting in patient, staff and visitor areas, compared to the previous hospital.

Jeffrey Kopin – Chief Medical Officer, Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, commenting on the new hospital in Lake Forest, said: “The design and technology of this new hospital will directly benefit our patients, and will allow us to provide a new level of care that we were not always able to do in our previous facility.
