Nokia partners with Claro Argentina to launch nationwide 5G network

Nokia has secured a landmark deal with Claro Argentina (Claro) to deploy 5G infrastructure across the nation. This comprehensive agreement marks the first phase of Argentina’s 5G rollout, initially targeting the country’s largest urban centers. As the exclusive supplier for this ambitious project, Nokia’s involvement will significantly boost its market share in the region.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Services for a Digital Revolution

Under the agreement, Nokia will supply its state-of-the-art AirScale portfolio, featuring its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology. The deployment will include base stations, baseband units, and the latest generation of Massive MIMO radios. This advanced equipment promises to deliver extensive 5G capacity and coverage, ensuring high-speed and low-latency connectivity across Argentina.

The 5G rollout is expected to drive transformation in various vertical sectors, including manufacturing and oil and gas. Nokia’s services will encompass planning, deployment, integration, and network optimization, ensuring a seamless implementation process.

Innovative Antenna Technology to Accelerate Deployment

Claro will be the first Latin American operator to deploy Nokia’s Interleaved Passive Active Antenna (IPAA+) across its entire site footprint. This cutting-edge technology addresses the challenge of limited space on towers and rooftops for 5G antennas. The IPAA+ features a modular design that supports a broad range of frequencies, from 700 MHz to 2.6 GHz, including the 3.5 GHz 5G band, facilitating a swift and efficient deployment.

Nokia has been a trusted partner for Claro Argentina, having previously supported the operator with 2G, 3G, and 4G network deployments. This new 5G partnership further cements Nokia’s role as a key player in Claro’s technological evolution.
