NLC India unveils new subsidiary NIGEL targeting renewable energy projects

In a decisive leap towards green energy pursuits, NLC India Limited, a Neyveli-based Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking, has incorporated a fresh wholly-owned subsidiary, “NLC India Green Energy Limited” (NIGEL).

Projects on the Horizon for NIGEL

Setting its sight on major renewable undertakings, NIGEL is geared to assume projects approximating a staggering 2 GW of Renewable Energy. These encompass a 600 MW solar power initiative in Gujarat, coupled with an 810 MW Solar Photovoltaic Power Project lined up in Rajasthan. To note, this strategic development trails NLCIL’s prior incorporation of a wholly-owned subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited, conceived for Asset monetisation.

A Visionary Outlook from NLCIL’s Leadership

Sharing insights on this milestone, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, highlighted, ‘The newly-incorporated company will take care of planning, participating in upcoming RE tenders, tendering, execution and commissioning of Renewable projects.” Further amplifying the company’s sustainable vision, he added, “The subsidiary is expected to achieve 5 GW capacity by 2030 and contribute to carbon emission reduction.”
