NHPC, BSHPCL sign MoU for $330m Dagmara hydroelectric project in Bihar

NHPC Limited has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bihar State Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (BSHPCL) for executing the 130.1MW Dagmara hydroelectric project by the former on an ownership basis.

The Dagmara hydroelectric project will be built along River Kosi in Supaul district with an investment of INR 24.35 billion ($330 million).

The Bihar government will offer a grant of INR 700 crore for the hydropower project as per Capex requirements, which will be proportionate to equity infusion by NHPC.

According to NHPC, the Bihar state will buy 100% of the power generated by the Dagmara hydroelectric project for its complete life.

Construction of the run-of-river hydropower project in Bihar is expected to involve nearly 600 workers and 200 technical staff.

The Dagmara hydroelectric project will be equipped with 17 units of 7.65MW capacity each.

Earlier this month, NHPC had incorporated a joint venture company called ‘Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited with Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDCL) for the execution of the 850MW Ratle hydroelectric project.
