NGC rapidly manages fire incident at Rig SKP-150-Il in Geleky area

A fire erupted at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited’s (ONGC) Rig SKP-150-Il, located at well NG#8 in the Geleky area of the Sivasagar district, on July 21, 2023. The incident, occurring around 2:50 pm, was swiftly managed by ONGC’s emergency response team, which prevented any casualties or injuries.

ONGC’s quick deployment of its emergency protocols played a crucial role in the prompt response to the incident. The company’s fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site, and the Regional Crisis Management Team’s experts were mobilized to manage the emergency situation.

Due to the effective response from ONGC Assam Asset’s firefighting team, the fire was rapidly extinguished. ONGC’s commitment to safety and its well-trained personnel’s proficiency were instrumental in effectively managing the incident. By 4:17 pm, the fire was completely under control, with the ONGC firefighting team continuing to monitor the site for potential flare-ups.

The company has secured the wellsite, which is under continuous expert supervision. No injuries were reported among the ONGC personnel or its business partners. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
