Neogen Chemicals to acquire electrolytes manufacturing technology license from MUIS

Indian specialty chemicals manufacturer Neogen Chemicals has entered into an agreement with Japan-based MU Ionic Solutions Corporation for acquiring a manufacturing technology license for electrolytes in India.

MU Ionic Solutions (MUIS) is a joint venture of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) and UBE Corporation and is part of Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Chemical Group.

The company is among the top companies in the production of electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries. They have a solid track record dating back to 30 years. They have five electrolyte production facilities located across Japan, the US, China, and the UK.

In accordance with the conditions of the agreement, Neogen Chemicals will be granted a licence from MU Ionic Solutions to use its proprietary and confidential manufacturing technology to produce the former’s electrolyte solutions at its manufacturing plant in India.

The Neogen Chemicals’ plant has a maximum capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes per year.

The electrolytes will be targeted by Neogen Chemicals to satisfy the increasing demand for lithium-ion cell producers in India.

The agreement will permit the Indian specialty chemicals manufacturer to make sure that its manufacturing facility follows strict international standards of security, quality, reliability, and efficiency in electrolyte production.

It can also assist Neogen Chemicals in significantly reducing the time for approvals with lithium ion battery manufacturers.

Recently, Neogen Chemicals signed a deal to acquire BuLi Chemicals India from Livent.
