American insurance firm Nationwide has joined forces with retailing giant Walmart to launch a new pet prescription program called Nationwide Pet Rx Express.
The pet prescription program has been designed to help pet owners save time and money at the time of filling their pet prescription medications at any of the 4,700 pharmacies of Walmart across the US.
Nationwide Pet Rx Express is said to provide pet insurance members of Nationwide access to reasonable pet prescription medicines, while offering a new, expedited, in-store claims experience.
Through the partnership, pet insurance members of Nationwide can access the most commonly prescribed pet-specific medications of Walmart for chronic disease and tick, flea, and heartworm prevention.
Heidi Sirota – Nationwide Chief Pet Officer, commenting on Nationwide Pet Rx Express, said: “Families deserve the same convenience when tending to their pets’ health as they do their own. Offering on-the-spot claims filing and preferred pricing at a major retail location helps our members save time and money.
“We’re working to make it possible for every American to bring a pet into their family and this first-of-its-kind partnership with the country’s leading pet retailer brings us closer to that goal.”
The pet health insurance plans of Nationwide cover cats, dogs, birds, and exotic pets for various medical problems and conditions relating to illnesses, accidents, and injuries.
Commenting on Nationwide Pet Rx Express, Luke Kleyn – Vice President, Health & Wellness, Walmart said: “Affordable health & wellness offerings for families is important for the whole family, including family pets.
