“My helicopter went down!” Donald Trump’s shocking claim debunked by witnesses
Republican presidential candidate and former US President Donald Trump recounted a harrowing tale of an alleged helicopter crash during a press conference, a story that he claimed involved former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. Speaking to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump described a scenario where he and Brown were aboard a helicopter, facing what they thought could be the end. “We were traveling to a specific location when the helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing,” Trump explained. This claim, however, was swiftly disputed by Brown, who stated, “I’ve never been in a helicopter with him in my life.”
The controversy did not end there. The Trump campaign, when pressed for a response to Brown’s denial, retorted with a dismissive “Slick Willie!” This incident adds another layer of intrigue as Trump attempts to clarify the details. He insisted that the event occurred in New Jersey and involved Willie Brown, not Jerry Brown, the former California Governor with whom Trump indeed toured wildfire damages by helicopter in November 2018. This statement came after a mix-up was suggested by a report from the Times, which Trump outright denied.
California Governor Gavin Newsom, who accompanied Trump and Jerry Brown on the wildfire tour, also chimed in, asserting that their helicopter flight never experienced any issues. “Our flight was completely normal,” Newsom confirmed.
Despite these clarifications, Trump remained firm on his version of the events, underscoring his claim through a post on his Truth Social platform, where he reiterated the alleged emergency and its New Jersey location.
This incident highlights a complex weave of narratives as Trump navigates the challenging waters of his presidential campaign, stirring both media frenzy and public skepticism. As the story unfolds, it remains a pivotal example of the contentious nature of political discourse in the current climate.
