Mohan Charan Majhi to become Chief Minister of Odisha after BJP’s historic win

In a significant political development, Mohan Charan Majhi, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been announced as the next Chief Minister of Odisha, marking the end of Naveen Patnaik’s prolonged tenure spanning over two decades. The formal swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at 5 pm on Wednesday, June 12, at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar.

Decisive Victory in Assembly Elections

The BJP emerged victorious in the recent Odisha Assembly elections, securing 78 seats, which paved the way for a change in leadership. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by Naveen Patnaik, who has been at the helm for 24 years, won 51 seats. The Congress party and other political entities like CPI(M) also participated but secured significantly fewer seats.

Mohan Charan Majhi, a four-time MLA, was elected as the Leader of the BJP Legislative Party, with his leadership role confirmed by BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
