Meritex begins construction on two industrial buildings in Kansas City

Minneapolis-based Meritex has started construction on a couple of new, 120,000-square-foot, industrial buildings in the Kansas City market, as per the latest construction industry news.

The new buildings will each have a clear height of 28’ to go along with eco-friendly, insulated wall panels.

The development, which will also have a shared truck court, will be Meritex’ first surface development in the Kansas City market.

Currently, the company owns and operates an underground industrial park called Meritex Lenexa Executive Park, which has 2.7 million-plus square feet of developed space.

Located at 9800 Britton St. in Lenexa, Kansas, the building site is within a mile from the K-10 and I-435 highways. It is also east of Lenexa’s Ridgeview Road Construction Project, which is slated to open in late 2019.

Bill Seymour – senior vice president of Meritex said: “We’re excited to continue to expand in the Kansas City market.

“We’re continuing to see strong demand for industrial space in the area, largely driven by the continued rise in e-commerce.”

Meritex said that construction on the new development started in late September with work to continue on the site throughout the fall of 2019. Vertical construction will start in spring 2020 with the project likely to be wrapped up by December 2020.

While Merit General Contractors will be the contractor, Colliers will be the listing broker.
