xAI’s Colossus supercomputer expansion, initially announced in June, includes the integration of at least one million Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Adding to the city’s momentum, global tech leaders , , and Computer are establishing operations in Memphis. These collaborations have solidified Memphis’s growing identity as the Digital Delta initiative gains traction, a concept pioneered by FedEx founder Fred Smith and his son, FedEx Executive Richard Smith.

At the luncheon, Brent Mayo of xAI joined Greater Memphis Chamber President and CEO Ted Townsend to share the profound implications of this project. Addressing over 1,000 Memphis business leaders, Mayo highlighted the region’s role in the artificial intelligence revolution.

“In Memphis, we’re pioneering development in the heartland of America,” Mayo stated. “We’re not just leading from the front; we’re accelerating progress at an unprecedented pace while ensuring the stability of the grid utilizing megapack technology.”

Townsend described the Digital Delta initiative as a pivotal step for the city, emphasizing the opportunities it unlocks for businesses and residents. “Memphis has provided the power and velocity necessary for not just xAI to grow and thrive but for other companies to follow suit. We’re thrilled to welcome Nvidia, Dell, and Supermicro to the Memphis technology hub,” he noted.
