Mariner oil field : Shearwater GeoServices wins 4D seismic monitor project
Shearwater GeoServices said that it has bagged a contract to carry out a 4D seismic monitor project at Equinor’s Mariner oil field in the UK North Sea.
According to the Norwegian seismic exploration company, this will be the third Isometrix survey to be undertaken over the North Sea oil field and the second 4D monitor survey.
Shearwater GeoServices will carry out the one-month-long 4D seismic monitor project at the Mariner oil field during the 2022 North Sea summer season.
The company said that time-lapse seismic surveys help in maximizing production from existing fields by offering subsurface data for updating reservoir modeling as well as production simulations.
The Isometrix multicomponent towed streamer technology of Shearwater GeoServices is said to have been designed to deliver the most advanced images for geoscientists to develop models.
Irene Waage Basili — CEO of Shearwater GeoServices said: “Time-lapse seismic acquisition is a critical activity for maximising value creation from offshore oilfield assets, which is why our clients select world leading technology for these surveys.
“We have a long-established track record of executing 4D seismic surveys for Equinor and we look forward to return to the Mariner field to capture high-quality geophysical data for our client.”
