Maersk Valiant drillship : $24m contract extension awarded by TotalEnergies
Maersk Drilling has bagged a contract extension worth around $24.3 million for its Maersk Valiant drillship from TotalEnergies for drilling an additional well in Block 58 offshore Suriname.
The contract extension is the result of TotalEnergies E&P Suriname, Suriname Branch exercising an option to add the drilling of an additional well. It is estimated to have a duration of 100 days.
Maersk Drilling expects the drilling of the additional well to begin this August/September. It will be in direct continuation of the current work scope of the Maersk Valiant drillship.
The contract value also includes integrated services delivered and a fee for using managed pressure drilling.
Maersk Drilling said that another one-well option is part of the drilling contract for the Maersk Valiant, which is a 7th generation drillship.
Integrated with the capability of managed pressure drilling, the rig was delivered in 2013. It is presently operating for TotalEnergies in Surinamese waters.
