L&T wins contract for titanium clad reactor from Technip Energies

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that its heavy engineering unit has bagged an order from Technip Energies-India for supplying an oxidation reactor to be installed at a public sector petrochemical project in India.

The order is for the technologically critical titanium clad reactor for a purified terephthalic acid plant.

According to Larsen & Toubro, the scope of supply involves the design, procurement of materials, fabrication, inspection, and testing of the reactor meeting the stringent quality requirements of licensors.

Larsen & Toubro stated: “This is an important step in indigenization of High technology equipment and a major contribution towards Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

“L&T Heavy Engineering developed the technology for titanium clad equipment fabrication inhouse conforming to global standards of quality. This Critical Reactor is built to precision tolerances considering the exposure to severe corrosive atmosphere and dynamic loading during service.”

Larsen & Toubro said that the order marks the opening of multiple avenues for its heavy engineering for critical titanium clad reactors in the domestic as well as global markets.

It can be noted that Technip Energies had won an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for a Para Xylene (PX) and Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) complex project at Paradip, Odisha.
