L&T Technology taps Microsoft to offer IIoT-based smart manufacturing solutions

L&T Technology Services Limited (LTTS), an Indian engineering services company, has entered into an agreement with Microsoft to offer its Energy & Sustainability Manager Solution on Microsoft Azure with an aim to digitally transform and create sustainable factories of the future.

According to the Larsen & Toubro subsidiary, its Energy & Sustainability Manager is a broad compliance and standard-driven solution that monitors energy losses across plants. Its objective is to cut down wastage sustainably across a company and provide an overview of plant equipment and utilities.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) based solution is deployed on Azure and will be distributed jointly to end-customers as IP-Cosell solution across a range of industries.

The latest agreement between L&T Technology Services and Microsoft is part of their expanded partnership to allow businesses all over the world to benefit from the former’s latest manufacturing solution suite hosted on Azure enterprise cloud-first, mobile-first infrastructure.

L&T Technology Services said that its smart factory environment, it is now mandatory to keep track of and audit all aspects of energy use, while simultaneously achieving sustainability targets. With energy efficiency goals at the forefront, a pan-company commitment to energy conservation is vital, said L&T Technology Services. This requires transparency into the utilization of resources across air, water, electrical energy, natural gas, and steam in order to enhance the energy maps, abide with statutory regulations, cut down on energy costs, and also achieve zero carbon emissions.

Prior to that, L&T Technology Services had partnered with Microsoft to help in the development of a smart office campus in Israel. The futuristic campus is being operated on LTTS’ smart campus platform — Intelligent Building Experience Management System (iBEM).
