L&T Construction expands global reach with new power transmission orders
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business has recently announced securing substantial orders valued between Rs 2,500 to 5,000 crores. This development marks a significant achievement in both Indian and international markets in the current quarter.
Expansion in Indian Power Grid
In Chhattisgarh, India, the company has received an important order for establishing 400kV and 220kV transmission lines. This project aims to alleviate congestion in the state’s electricity transmission grid, addressing a critical need for infrastructure strengthening and better power distribution.
Growth in the Middle East and Southeast Asia
Further expanding its international footprint, L&T Construction has secured several key overseas projects. In Saudi Arabia, the company won a prestigious order for the turnkey construction of a 380kV Substation, coupled with associated overhead transmission lines. This venture is a testament to L&T’s growing influence in the Middle Eastern energy sector.

In Kuwait, the company has been entrusted with constructing five substations. These substations are crucial for providing a reliable and efficient power supply to a new residential city, marking a significant step in Kuwait’s urban development and infrastructure enhancement.
L&T has also made strides in Qatar, obtaining additional orders for ongoing substation projects, further solidifying its presence in the Middle East.
A Breakthrough in Malaysia
Marking a major breakthrough, L&T, in a consortium, has won an order in Malaysia to establish a 275kV Underground Cable system. This project is set to double the power transmission capacity in the existing network, showcasing L&T’s capability to undertake complex and large-scale power transmission projects in Southeast Asia.
